How do the ways to give compare?

Every way to give, side by side. They all fund the same work; they differ in commitment, what you receive and who they suit.

What we can’t offer yet, and why

Most of these depend on one thing: being recognised as a charity by the Charity Commission and HMRC. Our application (reference 5290505) is in progress. We would rather tell you now than have you find out at checkout.

  • Gift Aid claims

Gift Aid lets a charity recognised by HMRC reclaim basic-rate tax on gifts from UK taxpayers, adding 25p to every £1. Gift Aid is not currently claimed. If you tick the Gift Aid box at checkout, we keep your declaration for a possible future claim, and a claim would only be made on gifts that qualify.

  • Gifts in wills with Inheritance Tax relief

A will can leave money to any organisation. But gifts in a will are usually free of Inheritance Tax only when they go to a charity that qualifies for UK tax relief. We do not qualify yet, so a gift to us in a will would not currently reduce Inheritance Tax. If you are writing a will, speak to a solicitor first.

SwiftWill is a separate service owned by Kaiser Khan, our Editorial Director. Why we link to it.

  • Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving lets employees give from their pay before tax, through an HMRC-approved agency, to charities. Until we are recognised as a charity we cannot be chosen in a Payroll Giving scheme. Employer matching is separate: ask whether your employer’s scheme can include us.

  • US tax deductions

We are not a US 501(c)(3) organisation, so gifts from the United States are not tax-deductible there. You can still give online in US dollars.

  • Tribute and fundraising pages on JustGiving and similar sites

These sites list registered charities, so we are not listed yet. Share our donate link instead, and ask people to add the same name in the dedication so gifts are recorded together.

Questions about ways to give

What is the best way to give?
The one that suits you. Monthly gifts help us plan screening ahead; one-off gifts let you decide each time. Every route funds the same work: breast screening, diagnosis and treatment access.
Can I give in someone’s name?
Yes. Open “Add a dedication” on the donate form and choose “In memory of” or “In honour of”. You can then make a printable card to tell them, or their family, about the gift.
Can I leave a gift in my will?
You can name any organisation in your will. But a gift to us would not currently get the Inheritance Tax relief that gifts to charities usually get, because our charity registration is still in progress. Speak to a solicitor before you change your will.
Can I give through Payroll Giving?
Not yet. Payroll Giving schemes pay charities recognised by HMRC, and our registration is in progress. You can still fundraise at work, or ask whether your employer will match what you raise.
Can I claim Gift Aid on my donation?
Gift Aid is not currently claimed. If you tick the Gift Aid box at checkout, we keep your declaration for a possible future claim.
Can I donate from outside the UK?
Yes. You can give online in pounds, US dollars or euros. Gifts are not tax-deductible in the United States or other countries.
Is a monthly gift a Direct Debit?
No. Monthly gifts are taken from your card through Stripe. To change or cancel one, email info@worldaidnetwork.org.
