How much should I donate in memory of someone?

Quick answer

There is no right amount. Give what feels meaningful and affordable; many people give about what they would have spent on flowers or a card. A gift to Breast Cancer Charity in someone’s memory can be any amount from £1: £25 can fund one complete screening, and £75 a biopsy and diagnostic work-up. Add a dedication so the gift is recorded in their name.

Is there a usual amount to give in memory?

No. Families rarely expect a set amount, and every gift is recorded the same way. Some people give what they would have spent on flowers, some give a round number, and families sometimes give a larger gift together.

What different amounts can fund

  • £25 can fund one complete breast screening: a clinical exam, an ultrasound and health education.
  • £75 can fund a biopsy and full diagnostic work-up.
  • £150 can fund one month of hormone therapy support.
  • £500 can fund surgical access support for one patient.

These are illustrative programme costs. Donations are pooled and costs vary by location and patient need.
