What do you want your donation to do?
Breast cancer charities do different things. Some fund laboratory research into new treatments. Some run helplines, nurses and support for people in treatment. Others, like Breast Cancer Charity, help women in low-income communities reach breast examinations, scans, biopsies and treatment. All of these matter, so start by choosing the outcome you care about most.
Ways to donate
- Give once online by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
- Give monthly, which helps programmes plan screening in advance.
- Give in memory or in honour of someone, with a dedication.
- Fundraise with a walk, bake sale, pink afternoon tea or sponsored challenge.
- Ask your employer about matched giving or a workplace fundraiser.
- Leave a gift in your will to a charity you trust.
How to check a breast cancer charity before you give
- Check its registration. In England and Wales, registered charities are listed on the Charity Commission register. Breast Cancer Charity is a campaign of World Aid Network, whose registration is in progress (application 5290505).
- Look for clear information on what each amount funds and how costs are worked out.
- Check whether it can claim Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer. Breast Cancer Charity does not claim Gift Aid at present.
- Make sure you can reach a real person by phone or email.
Can I donate hair, bras, clothes or a car?
Breast Cancer Charity accepts money only. Hair donations go to charities that make wigs, and clothing usually goes to charity shops or specialist bra recycling schemes; search for a local scheme where you live. Car donation programmes run mainly in the United States.
Can I get tax relief on my donation?
Not at present. Gift Aid is not claimed while registration is in progress, and donations to Breast Cancer Charity are not tax-deductible in the United States or other countries.
